Rock Climbing on Federal Lands on Trial?
Parents of a young man killed by a falling rock while climbing in Yosemite National Park are suing the National Park Service for $10 million claiming that overflowing water from a leaking storage tank caused the rock slide.
If these folks win (and who can tell with Californian courts), look for many state and national parks and landowners to ban rock climbing entirely for fear of lawsuits.
There can be no personal freedom without personal responsibility. Put another way, if we want to retain our "right" to blame others for unfortunate accidents, expect those "others" to prevent us from engaging in potentially risky activities.
