A particularly repugnant trend

Over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed several comments posted to this website that are spam; advertising life insurance, porn, an online gift shop, etc.   I delete them almost immediately, but it is annoying and a pain in the ass.   Anyone posting commercial messages like this will have their IP address banned for life and will likely be reincarnated as a pinworm.   I hope this doesn't represent the beginning of a new trend, or I'll have to disable commenting.

Any other bloggers out there had similar experiences?
