Operation TimesStifled A Success!

The NYT's innovative, young publisher Arthur "Pinch" Sulzberger has developed a brilliant program to deflect criticism from the paper. His idea? Stop influential people from reading his paper's editorial columnists. If they can't read them, he figures, they can't very well complain about them, now can they?

Well, his plan appears to be working superbly. As Micky Kaus pointed out, one day last week there were no TimesSelect articles on the NYT's "Most E-Mailed" list. Even better, criticism magnets like former Enron adviser Paul Krugman have effectively disappeared from the web!

Bravo, Mr. Sulzberger!
