TWU Knuckleheads

I can't believe those numbskull's decided to go on strike the week before Christmas. Aside from the fact that they are already overpaid (unskilled track workers making $49K after three years, plus incredible benefits, naturally) they are choosing to victimize other, lower paid workers who depend on them to get to work. During the Christmas season, when many working class families are already feeling the pinch to buy presents, etc., losing wages and income because of the a strike couldn't come at a worse time.

Not only was it cruel and unfair to those who have jobs paying much less than theirs, it was irrational, too. I'll bet dollars to donuts that TWU members end up worse off economically for having struck rather than accepting the final MTA offer.

Merry Christmas, Mr. Toussaint.

When has it been a crime to make around $49K a year? Try to stem the tide of rising fuel costs and other related expenses which never cease to increase. It's a shame we live in a city that it's ok for people to get a ticket for $145 for double parking but when a transit worker has to fight for his fair share it's a crime in your eyes. You don't cry about the executives that sit at the MTA Board meetings that live in posh neighborhoods like Kalikow who lives on the East End of LI. Execs that make at least $200K a year. These people have you just where they want you to be, screaming at us calling us crooks meanwhile they live luxuriously enjoying the kickbacks and side deals that comes with a multi billion dollar company. Remember the MTA when they raise the fare and come up with a surplus again. I bet you won't be writing them up a terse letter as much as you did above.

The problem with the TWU is that it deliberately flouted the law prohibiting strikes by public sector workers. To make matters worse, the union chose the week before Christmas to strike -- which is an economically vital period to many small businesses -- in order to maximize the damage and disruption caused to the NYC community.

Now it's payback time, assholes.
